Link Popularity Reports
Link popularity reports come in many different shapes and
sizes. There are link popularity reports that show how many
links are pointed towards a particular web page. Some link
popularity reports also show the Page Rank (PR) of the pages
that those same links sit upon, giving the viewer and idea
of how that page should be performing in the SERPs.
The Google Link tool and Yahoo Site Explorer are forms of
link popularity reports that are often used by business owners,
Webmasters and many SEOs. Then there are more advanced tools
that may tell a person whether or not a web page is listed
in DMOZ, its Alexa ranking, the anchor text in the links and
other noteworthy information.
On our SEO services website, we use a couple of homegrown,
proprietary link popularity tools that generate reports for
ourselves so that we can make good decisions on our clients'
websites. Our clients can also see a copy of these link popularity
reports, upon request, as well.
These reports help when it comes time to formulate and implement
a link building strategy
for the customer's website. Decisions can be made on which
pages need the most targeted links for optimal results. Also,
decisions on where to get those links can also be planned.
Especially for Google, link popularity is an overriding factor
when it comes to higher
search engine rankings, so having a detailed report is
a necessary first step.
