Javascript and SEO
Javascript by itself is not problematic to use in regard
to a page being crawled and ranked by the search engines.
But, overuse of bloated javascript code on a page may slow
down a page loading to a crawl.
There are many useful tools written in javacript that once
can have on one's page. In fact, many PPC ads use a snippet
of javascript to serve up Google Adsense or Yahoo ads for
a page. But, combine this with many other bells and whistles
written in javascript and it can spell disaster for a page.
Consider the typical ADHD web visitor that surfs to a website.
He or she wants information, quick, now and yesterday. They
don't want to wait around and have a cup of coffee while the
page is loading.
More likely they will het the Back button the browser and
move on more quickly that you can say, "customer conversion".
If your visitors hit the Back button enough, this affects
the bounce rate to your web page.
The bounce rate is one indicator used by the search engines
to judge the quality of a page. So, a high bounce rate will
adversely affect the SERPs. So, take heed of this dire warning
my friend and reduce the javascript on your web pages to their
bare minimum.
Your visitors and the SERPs will thank you gladly for it.
