Flash Pages and SEO
Flash pages are still not indexed well by the search engines.
Oh, they try, but by very definition, pages created in Adobe
Flash (formerly Macromedia) are done so for the pizzazz, for
the visual excitement, for the "Wow" factor.
Flash pages are not meant to be filled with tons of text,
which is problematic since the search engines are text animals.
They chomp and chew up text on a web page to determine what
it is about and how it should be ranked.
The search engine also don't know what to do with individual
images or video for the same reasons. Without supporting text
explaining the Flash graphics, images or videos a search engine
is lost and rendered helpless.
So, the best advice that we usually give for SEO purposes
is to create Flash banners or graphic, but don't create entire
pages in Flash. Web designers think Flash is cool and can
sell Flash pages for more money since more work is involved
in creating these pages, but in order for a page to be well
indexed by the search engines it must have a fair amount of
text on it.
For Google in particular, a lesser amount of text is needed
since it primarily focuses on back links to a page, but a
page with no text will not make it very far up into the SERPs.
